About Me

I am a PhD candidate in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and very fortunate to be advised by Prof. Ravishankar K. Iyer and Prof. Zbigniew Kalbarczyk. I am a member of the DEPEND group at the Coordinated Science Lab. My broad research interests are in building reliable and secure systems and networks, and big data analytics.

As part of the CompGen consortium at the UIUC, I build deep analytics models using statistical learning and graphical models to individualize disease diagnoses and therapeutics, thereby enabling precision/individualized medicine. My work involves close collaboration with biologists, clinicians and surgeons, and comprises breadth in terms of disease and data types, and depth in terms of the analytics to generate accurate hypotheses which clinicians can use to make therapeutic choices. In December 2014, I became a NCSA-CompGen Fellow in recongition of our collaboration with Prof. Derek Wildman and William Gundling. I am very fortunate to be collaborating with Dr. Richard Weinshilboum, Dr. Liewei Wang and Dr. Krishna R. Kalari of Mayo Clinic, and Prof. Dr. Chuen Neng Lee and Dr. Kee Yuan Ngiam of the National University Hospital, Singapore.

I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Alexander Clemm (Summer 2010) and Dr. Rajeev Koodli (Summer 2012 and 2013, now at Intel) as a summer research intern at Cisco Systems, Inc.

Prior to joining Univ. Illinois in Spring 2014, I obtained my MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University under the supervision of Prof. James Bain. As a research assistant, I collaborated with Prof. Patrick Tague and Prof. Bob Iannucci as a member of the Wireless Network and System Security Group. I was also a recipient of the Carnegie Institute of Technology Dean's Fellowship for my research assistantship.
